What are the possible outcomes of this and whether your hat will remain serviceable or not? By following these simple tips, you can easily iron your straw hat at home without any problems.

Can You Iron The Straw Hat

Yes you can iron straw hat but after considering some points. Because straw hats are icon of style and fashion and little carelessness can ruin your style.

1. Wet the Hat

First, wet the hat with a water sprayer. Not too much, just wet enough that the hat becomes moist. Keep the hat aside for a while so that the moisture is absorbed well by the straw hats. This will make your hat straws softer and easier to straighten.

2. Heat the Iron

Now heat the iron to normal temperature. Do not add more heat, just heat it to normal temperature.

3. Take soft cloth

Now take a soft cotton cloth. Do not place the iron directly on your hat. This can cause marks on both your hat and iron. Put the cloth on the brim of the hat and start ironing. If you feel that the iron is not too hot and is not straightening your brim, you can increase the temperature of the iron.

4. Round portion

If the round part of the hat is to be straightened, then there are 2 steps for that. Take a round pot and stick it in the rounded portion of the hat. Or take a wet towel and roll it up like a football and put it in the round part of the hat. Then leave the hat for 2 to 3 hours. Your hat will completely return to its original shape.

Things before to do when ironing the hat

  • First of all, not all straw hats are created equal. Some are made with natural fibers like wool or cotton, while others are made with synthetic materials. If your straw hat is made with natural fibers, you’ll want to be careful not to overheat it as this can damage the fibers. Synthetic straw hats can handle a bit more heat, but you still don’t want to go overboard.
  • Another thing to keep in mind is that not all irons are the same. Some have steam settings, while others don’t. If your iron has a steam setting, make sure to turn it off before ironing your straw hat. Otherwise, you run the risk of damaging the hat.
  • Always check the iron by placing it on the rough cloth before ironing the straw hat. That way you will know how much the iron is hot.
  • Finally, when ironing your straw hat, be sure to use a pressing cloth. This will protect the hat from direct contact with the iron and help prevent any damage.
